The Nipigon River property is located approx. 30 minutes from the Lodge. Access is both by road and boat. The river is famous for the fact that it is the home of the world record brook trout. There is also rainbow trout, lake trout and salmon in the river at different times of the year. Brook trout are best between mid May and early July and then again in late August to mid September.
For the best results guest should consider hiring a guide for at least 1 day. Brook trout in the 4 to 6 pound category are caught on a regular basis living the prime time (June). Rainbow Trout run up the river in the spring and fall but there are fish that stay in the river year round. The Lake Trout season on the river starts on June 1st with best fishing during the first two weeks of the season. Salmon fishing starts in mid July and peaks at the end of August and into the first two weeks of September.
